Ben had 17 TDs and 15 picks this past season, yet won a Super Bowl with no running game and one of the worst offensive lines to ever make it to the Super Bowl. Remember, the best OL on the team, Justin Hartwig, was CUT by the Carolina Panthers. In 2007, Ben had 32 TDs and 11 picks, along with no ring. In 1984 Dan Marino had 5084 yards passing, 48 TDs, along with no ring.
The Steelers running "attack" has been average to dismal these past 2 seasons. They were 23rd in 2008, averaging a whopping 3.7 yards per attempt. In the last 2 seasons, they have a COMBINED 25 rushing TDs
that's 25 rushing TDs over a 2-year span, or, approximately 1/3 of the Steelers' offensive TDs over the past 2 seasons. That is HARDLY a rushing attack that "dictates" anything.
Watch the Steelers play. They haven't had a true rushing attack since 2006.
Thank You. The Steelers "Rushing Attack" has been a joke. Roethlisberger has bring the friking man. Not a stat padder. But a game winner. And you need that at QB.

as for best ever (Super Bowl era only)
1) Joe Montana - 4 Super Bowl wins, 11 TDs/0 picks in postseason play. He averaged 2 TDs per postseason game. Seriously. There is no comparison
2) Dan Marino - don't hand me any shit about no SB victories. The dude can't play defense and he carried his offense for 2 decades
3) Steve Young - injuries derailed him, but he was the most dangerous combination of passing and running I've ever seen.
4) Terry Bradshaw - 2nd to Steve Young. His career #s were skewed by HORRID performances early in his career, but he was a clutch QB and leader. People forget that he called his own plays, unlike every other QB of the era
5) Brett Favre - say what you want about the interceptions, Brett Favre during the mid-90s played as good, if not better, than any QB I've ever seen. His penchant for "gunslinging" could've been tempered if he wasn't asked to carry his team his entire career
All I'm saying about Marino is this....Manning in my mind is the only person to ever come close to be as perfect of a QB as Marino. And he has only made it to the big dance one time (like Marino). The Colts have failed and flopped many times before that because of their D. Now granted Manning has the advantage of living in the modern (new SB Champ every season) era....but Manning got his ring. He got his one shot and he did it. Marino had his chances too. The Dolphins made it to the Playoffs 10 Times with him at QB (compared to Manning's 9) but never came away with the Ring. I can't NOT hold that against Marino. So PERHAPS Marino belong in the Top 5 but he has to be behind Manning.
I feel however, that I have made a serious error in leaving Bradshaw off my list.
