Hello all!
I'm sure everyone is salivating at the prospect of the start of the 2015 TDL season and I am hard at work getting everything ready for the upcoming changes that will be made for this year. I am currently updating the league rules to eliminate any outdated info and include any modifications that have passed in recent seasons.
These updated rules will include the new salary and contract parameters and will be available on the new league forum when it goes live. However, I will be posting the major changes in this thread so everyone can digest them in smaller bites instead of one big chunk of text.
Nearly all the changes are centered around being able to automate as much of the roster, salary, and contract information through the MFL site, leaving the ProBoards forum free to handle the majority of the offseason activities like RFA resigning and other things that just can't (currently) be done via an automated process on MFL.
I would suggest bookmarking this thread and check back often since I will be doling out the new info when I have spare moments at work or home. There will also be a link to this thread in the yellow announcement box at the top of the home page. So, without further ado, here is the first bit of info!
Guaranteed Salary & The Removal of Contract Types
If you have taken a look at your roster on MFL, you will notice that the salary information that is now available for each player. There are currently 7 columns titled:
Player | Points | Bye | Salary | Years Remain | Length/Type | 2014 Bonus
When we switch to the 2015 MFL page, there will only be 6 columns of info titled:
Player | Points | Bye | Salary | Years Remain | Guaranteed Salary
MFL (currently) does not have a system to handle multiple custom contract parameters so we will be removing all Contract types and the yearly Salary Bonuses associated with those contract types will be replaced with Guaranteed Salary totals that will be determined by the length of the contract a player is signed to. Any Salary bonuses remaining on current player contracts will be converted to Guaranteed Salary.
Have I piqued your interest yet? I will go more in-depth about the guaranteed salary and how it will be handled in my next update!

Practice Squad Management
There will be several changes to the way GMs manage their Practice Squads:
*** Update #3 - 03/26/15 ***
Rookie Contract Scale
The 2015 season will introduce a contract scale for all drafted rookies. The scale is as follows:
Players drafted in the 4th - 6th rounds will be eligible for placement on the Practice Squad. Players drafted in the 4th round that are placed on the PS will forgo the 2nd year of their rookie contract and instead be signed to the standard 1yr PS contract.
Offseason Resigning of Restricted Free Agents
Along with the elimination of the previously used contract structures, we will also be removing the current restrictions on resigning Restricted Free Agents (players whose contracts have expired) and replacing them with new, simpler guidelines. The new guidelines are:
There will be no limits on the number RFAs a team may resign, GMs may resign as few or as many RFAs as they wish.
GMs may resign a player to a contract up to 5yrs in length, with +$1 to base salary for each year and +$0.50 guaranteed salary for each year above a 1yr contract. For example: Player A is resigned to a 1yr contract. Their base salary increases by $1 but there is no guaranteed salary. Player B is resigned to a 3yr contract. Their base salary increases by $3 and there is $1.00 in guaranteed salary.
There will also be a handful of "Resigning Modifiers" that GMs will have access to in order to customize a limited number of contracts when resigning certain players. These will be revealed at a later date.

Practice Squad Management
There will be several changes to the way GMs manage their Practice Squads:
- The Practice Squad Salary Cap will be eliminated and PS player salaries will now count against the overall Team Salary Cap.
- The 2-week time period a player must be on your PS before being allowed to be dropped will be removed. Players can be dropped at any time after being added to the PS.
- Players can be added to and dropped from the PS at no penalty during the offseason, but all player drops from the PS during the regular and post seasons will be subject to a buyout penalty like any other player. This penalty will be determined by the standard buyout formula (Base Salary X Contract Years remaining X .5).
- During the offseason PS Resigning period, PS players can still be resigned to the Practice Squad for an additional year at +$1 to their base salary.
- Signing a player from the PS to the Active roster during the offseason can be done via 3 options:
- 1yr contract at the player's current base salary
- 2yr contract at +$1 to base salary and $0.50 guaranteed salary
- 3yr contract at +$2 to base salary and $1.00 guaranteed salary
