Well. fan vote is only 1/3 of the deciding factor. The real bias lies with the tv networks. For instance, here in Nashville, the Titans are king, as it should be, but that bias goes too far. We don't get the FOX doubleheaders here because the whatever time the TITANS game is on, the FOX channels mysteriously have non football programming on. When it comes down to which games are shown here, it is invariably the Cowboys or Giants. Atlanta has been on tv exactly ONCE here, the Chicago game. When they moved the Atlanta/Carolina game back to 4:00 for national brodcast, thay showed the Dallas/Arizona game here. The stations here are cooperating to make sure there aren't any divided loyalties in this area. Atlanta is just over 3 hours from here, Dallas is more than 10. Stations get to choose who to put in front of viewersand the announcers get to choose who to focus the brocasts on. As much as I dislike Madden for his Cowboys ( remember during the 90's heydays when he would only do the Cowboys games?), he would at least focus his ramblings on whoever was performing well during his game, not just his favorite players. Guys like Phil Simms only like the Giants.
I agree. The media has poorly skewed football. I watch almost every game on mute. Announcers are obnoxious and boring. Besides that, I don't care about the drama in the NFL or the hot topic that everyone wants to talk about. I'm watching a goddamn football game. I want to spend my time on the game. I want to know what formation the teams are in. I want to know if there are any special substitution packages on the field. I want to know after the play what the coverage was.
I don't allow the media to ruin football for me. But they sure do a good job of trying.
