Contracts are a major part of this Salary Cap driven league. Incorporated into this idea is the option to sign your players to multiple lengths of contract and multiple types of Contracts. Both Contract Lengths and Contract Types are required display items on a Teams Roster.
Contract Lengths
Currently, the League supports contract lengths ranging from 1 Season to 5 Seasons. The League's current system financially encourages Owners to sign players for long, however the risks associated with Long contracts should not go ignored. Likewise the system discourages continual usage of short contracts while allowing for maximum roster freedom.
Contract lengths can only be altered during the off-season by restructuring. Each off-season, each Owner may choose to shorten and lengthen one contract (See Roster Page for full and final details).
Contract Types
Contract Types are used to encourage Owners to indulge themselves even more in the work that involves constructing a team. There will be 4 Contract Types. These Contract Types (unlike the Contract Length) can not change as long as the player's contract has not been completed.
There are 4 distinct contract types. For ease of remembrance, these contract have been labeled: Type A, Type B, Type C and Type D. Each contract has a unique cost efficiency/effectiveness to it. It is up to the Owners to analyze and use whichever Type best suits their needs.
The Contract Range from simplest and cheapest (Type A). To the most extreme in risk taking (Type D). Type A contracts (and some Type B) are steady Contracts that often see a decrease in pay at the end of the contract. In contrast, Type D contracts (and some Type C) are "balloon style" contracts that will cost more in total and will cost more in the final seasons (after enjoying cheap starting seasons).
Contract Time Lines
Each Contract has a special Time Line given what type it is. This Time Line describes how much Cash will be spent on a player given their set Base Salary. This Base Salary is ALWAYS an integer ($1,$2,$3..$5, etc). However, the cost you end up paying that player per season will most of the time NOT be an integer. Each Season, the cost of your player will change based upon what Contract Type they have. This can be used to a Team's advantage or it could cause financial trouble in the future.
