With the draft around the corner and a slew of new owners onboard, this list should help answer the most frequent questions about our draft process:
- The 2011 TDL Rookie Draft will begin at 12 Noon EST on Sunday, May 1st. The Racine Legion have the 1st overall selection.
- Once the draft starts, all picks will be made as replies to the 2011 Rookie Draft thread. Only draft picks should posted in this thread. Any relative draft posts outside of actual picks should be made in the Official 2011 Draft Discussion thread.
- In the beginning, each owner will have 24 hours to make their pick. This 24 hour window begins with the posting time of the previous pick (displayed at the top of the post). As the draft progresses, the 24 hour time limit will decrease or increase depending on how the draft progresses or other extenuating circumstances. If you do not make your pick before your time window expires, the draft will proceed and the next owner may make their pick at any time. If you are skipped, you can still make your pick, but any players taken before you post your pick will not be available.
- If you do not wish to use a draft pick, you may instead post “Pass” to pass on your pick. If you choose to pass the draft will proceed and you will not be able to select a player later on to fill that draft slot.
- Owners can leave an absentee draft list with the commissioner in the event that they will be unable to pick within the designated time window. This list can be as long or as short as you like, but 5-7 players should be sufficient. The players should be ranked according to preference. The commissioner will draft the highest remaining player on the list for the absentee owner.
- Owners can trade a pick at any time, but the team that accuires a draft pick will be subject to that pick’s current time window, not a new 24 hour one. This includes picks that have been skipped due to timeout.
- Owners can trade draft picks from the 2011 and 2012 drafts only. Once the regular season begins, owners may trade 2013 picks.
- Owners must retain at least 1 Day One pick (Rounds 1, 2 & 3) and 1 Day Two pick (Rounds 4, 5 & 6) in each draft.
- I will try to keep the main draft order post and front page newsticker up-to-date, but all owners are responsible for keeping track of drafted players to insure no double-picking.
This should get us all started. If you have any questions, post them here or send me a PM. Good luck and Happy Drafting!
