With Free Buyouts now open, here is some extra info that may help answer questions you may have:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
From the Rules Section:
Yearly Free Buyout
Every Season each Owner will get to use the following Free Buyouts:
1 - Offensive Player (Any salary or contract)
1 - Defensive Player (Any salary or contract)
1 - Drafted Rookie (must be drafted in the 2nd Round or lower. No 1st Round Picks or FAs)
2 - $1 Contracts (Can be Rookie, Offense or Defense)
Players may only be cut using the Free BuyOuts during the 2 Weeks leading up to the NFL Draft.
The Raiders Rule: No player may be bought out during ANY League Draft (This does not include the NFL Draft)
For the purposes of buyouts, K are considered Offensive players and P are considered Defensive players. KR buyout status is determined by their main roster position (WR, DB, etc.)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
You can buyout up to a total of 5 players:
1 OFF player (any offensive player at any base salary w/ at least 1 yr left under contract)
1 DEF player (any defensive player at any base salary w/ at least 1 yr left under contract)
1 Rookie (offensive or defensive player drafted in previous year and not a 1st rd pick)
2 players w/ a $1 base salary (can be OFF or DEF & do not count as the OFF or DEF free buyout but must have a base salary of $1)
To use the Free Buyout, you just have to post in the Team News forum using this basic layout:
Post title: (team name) Free Buyouts
Post body:
The (team name) use the yearly Free buyouts on:
OFFENSE: (player name)
DEFENSE: (player name)
ROOKIE: (player name)
$1 CONTRACTS: (player name, player name)
You do not need to list base salary or contract info. After posting your buyout, go to the MFL site and release the bought out players from your roster.
Also, please try to list ALL of your Free Buyouts in one single post. I suggest taking the extra time to come to a decision on your buyouts instead of making multiple posts over several days. This makes it easier for someone (okay, me) when they have to go back and research roster discrepancies. Your Offseason Worksheet is the perfect place to compile your buyouts before posting them.
