With the first wave of Trading having past, we will now move on to the PS Resigning and Free Buyouts starting tomorrow (Friday, June 6) @ 12 NOON EST. This period will last until the day before the start of our Rookie draft. The dates for our draft are still not finalized but will be announced next week. Until then scour your roster for its dead weight and make your PS decisions. Keep in mind that Trading is still allowed and a player with PS eligibility may carry more value than if he is signed to the Active roster.
Free Buyouts allow you to release a player from their contract with no salary cap penalty. Resigning a player to your PS essentially re-signs a player to a new 1 yr PS contract at an increased salary.
For those of you who are new to our offseason activities, here are the pertinent excerpts from the rules:
Yearly Free Buyout
Every Season each Owner will get to use the following Free Buyouts:
1 - Offensive Player (Any salary or contract)
1 - Defensive Player (Any salary or contract)
1 - Drafted Rookie (must be drafted in the 2nd Round or lower. No 1st Round Picks or FAs)
2 - $1 Contracts (Can be Rookie, Offense or Defense)
For the purposes of contracts and buyouts, K are considered Offensive players and P are considered Defensive players. KR buyout status is determined by their main roster position (WR, DB, etc.)
Resigning Players (Practice Squad)
Any PS player can be signed to the Active Roster for their current price, without increase, for ANY length of contract during the PS resigning period of the off-season.
Players signed to the Active roster from the PS during this period do not count towards the RFA contract limits.
Any PS player can be re-signed to the Practice Squad during the PS resigning period for an increase of $1 to their current price.
Be sure to announce any buyouts or signings in the Team News area before updating your PRoBoard roster or making that move on the MFL site. Unannounced transactions on the MFL site will be invalidated and reversed.
If you have any questions or are unsure of how to proceed with a transaction, I encourage you to contact me or one of the other veteran GMs for assistance. There is no need to rush and the deadline will be announced well in advance to avoid a mad scramble so I would prefer you clarify first so that we don't have to go back and repair rosters and transactions after the fact.
As always, good luck!
