After an interesting debate in the League Chat on MFL (yes, people do use it), there is now a new section of the forum where you may now make all requests for injury substitutions. This way all requests are public knowledge and time-stamped for legitimacy.
As for the mysterious loophole that allows nefarious use of the Substitute players, there is currently no way that it can be closed, but the circumstances that must arise for it to be possible to use it are few and far between and it can be easily spotted if you are looking for it. The situation goes like this (with example teams & players):
The Falcons play on Thursday night and Antone Smith breaks loose for 200 yds and 3 TDs. Dolphins GM had the foresight to sign Smith, but selected him as a Backup player instead of a starter. Since Smith has already played, Dolphins GM cannot switch him into a starting slot in place of the underwhelming Toby Gerhart or career backup Dexter McCluster, both of whom do not play until the upcoming Sunday afternoon & evening.
However, Dolphins GM does have an injured DeAngelo Williams who is already out for the next few weeks and whose team doesn't play until Sunday night and Dolphins GM hatches a nefarious plan: he switches out McCluster for Williams, allows the week to proceed, and when the Panthers games starts he submits a request for an injury substitution: Antone Smith for DeAngelo Williams.
Smith's career game pushes Dolphins GM over the top and he wins his fantasy matchup in spectacular come-from-behind fashion. A clever way to solve a dilemma? Yes. Did he technically break any rules? No , but these are the kind of shady, dick-move tactics that can implode a fantasy league and have no place here. as I'm sure we will all agree.
This league is based on and functions on good faith between the team GMs and I would like to see it continue to do so.
