Hey Everyone,
I've decided due to the larger number of roster spots (including IR) that we have, to consider deviating from our pure NFL model.
Currently we continue to have a players Yearly Contract numbers count against the teams salary cap. I would like to consider a couple options & explain them here briefly. All I'm asking for is some feed back. I'll be making the decision shortly but would like to include ya'll thoughts. I have a small favorite going in but as of now my preference will be to keep things the way they are.
Remember that a player doesn't have to be on the real IR to be placed on ours. They just have to be "deactivated" for a game during the regular season. However, like the NFL rule, once a player is placed on our IR, they can't come back to the Active Roster.
1) IR Players don't count against the cap at all. Obviously this is the easiest to follow & frees up teams to make the most of their IR designations. However, because of the VERY loose ability this League gives the Owners in terms of designating IR players, I think this one gives a little too much power & benefit to the owners.
2) Reduce the amount of their IR cost in 1/2 (or some other number). This idea is a not as strong as the 1st option. It doesn't provide full cap relief but allows Team to gain some benefit from IR designation. Calculating this would be annoying.
3) Only Base Salary counts against Cap. This idea provides the least benefit to Owners. Depending on the cost of the player, it could take 2 players to free up $1 of cap space. Given that we are deviating from the NFL model, this one to me is most in line with our intent.
So there are the options. I'd like to hear feedback for or against any of them if you have some. Thanks

I believe that fantasy football is greatest when you have to make tough choices. That includes decisions on who to start/sit, who to add/drop and who to trade/keep. This league further expands the tough choices we make by giving us the ability to sign players to different contract types, etc.
It is for this reason I would like to keep our IR rules as they are. Tough choices are a part of life and fantasy football. Let's keep it that way. I would much rather see the ability to place a player on the IR where they would remain for the entire season and then provide cap relief. I do not want the IR to become PSv2 where we dump anyone not cleared to play and fill the newly opened slot w/ a promising free agent.
Let's discuss this. Josh is doing a great job running this league.
