ok, I know you've been waiting for it, so here it is!!!
Highest Scoring Team - Indians. Atlanta is a close runner-up though, as I've had 2 games under 200 and Atlanta has only dipped under 200 on one occassion. Both Carolina and Oorang have been top scoring team on 3 separate occasions. Phillly and most recently Atlanta were the other 2 top scoring teams.
Best offensive starters - Philadelphia @ 1043 points. 4 other teams (Steelers, Carolina, Oorang, Dallas) had over 960 points on offense, but Philly trumped us all. They also haven't dropped below 100 points production from their offense all season. Only Pittsburgh can also lay claim to that.
Best defensive starters - Indians @ 864 with a CLOSE margin over Atlanta, who is coming on strong, posting the highest defensive points in the last 2 consecutive weeks. Honorable mention goes to the Bolts who posted the highest defensive score of the season, @ 143 points during week 4, edging out Oorang's 142 points during the same week.
Most efficient team so far - Arizona (90.3%) edges the Falcons (90.1%) out for this.
Most consistent team - Steelers have scored a minimum of 194 points in every game this season
Most unlucky team - Philadelphia - they're 4-4, despite posting the 3rd highest point total. Their weekly opponents have averaged 215 points per game. The 2nd highest average is 204. They've lost to the weekly high score once, the weekly 2nd high score twice, and the 4th highest score. Ouch.
Best QB so far - this goes easily to Peyton Manning of the 49ers. He has more points than any other QB and he has had his bye already. Aaron Rodgers gets honorable mention as the only other starting QB to have at least 14 points in every game.
Most erratic QB - not counting injuries, this goes to the rookie Mark Sanchez. He's posted 2 games of sub-0 scores and has a high of 28 points
worst starting QB - Jamarcus Russell, and it's not even close. He has a HIGH of 9 points. He has posted 4 games of sub-0 scores. He takes "fucking horrible" to a whole new level. God bless you Unca Al...
best QB value - Matt Schaub is 2nd in overall league scoring and was drafted long after several other QBs had left the board. Brett Favre gets honorable mention, only because of his "I retire....KIDDING!!!" act
highest scoring RB - Although Adrian Peterson has marginally outscored MJD, he has not had his bye yet, whereas MJD has already had his bye. AD has managed to keep his weekly score above 13, and has 6 of his 8 games over 20 points. MJD has posted 3 games over 30 and has not dropped below 11. Advantage - MJD.
most erratic starting RB - Chris Johnson. He's posted 2 monstrous games of 40-55 points, and has been held to 15 or less in the other 6 games. Honorable mention goes to Pierre Thomas who has 3 games over 22 points, and 3 games under 9 points, with nothing in between.
Where the hell did HE come from??? - Cedric Benson. Seriously. Cedric frickin' Benson? He SUCKED with Chicago.
Good knowin' you....it's been great, so long, enjoy your retirement - Larry Johnson, Ladainian Tomlinson. These 2 combined for over 4200 YFS and 50 TDs in 2006.
Best RB corps (team) - Carolina (347.8) leads, by far, with only Philly (317.9) over 300 points. This comes as no surprise since Carolina has MJD (highest in ppg) and Darren Sproles (6th in overall RB scoring). Philly has Chris Johnson and Cedric Benson
Highest scoring WR - Reggie Wayne is the highest scoring WR overall, by a rather large margin (136 - 122 over Steve Smith). However, Wes Welker is averaging almost 2 ppg more, as he missed the 2nd and 3rd weeks of the season and also has a bye.
Most consistent WR - Fitzy. No surprise. He hasn't been as prone to monstrous games this season, and in fact has only broken 20 points on 2 separate occasions, but he's the only WR who has scored double-digits in every single week.
Most erratic WR - Nate Burleson. Why? Because he has alternated weeks the entire season. He had well over 10 points in games 1, 3, 5, and 7. He had under 10 points in weeks 2, 4, and 6. Pain in my ass.
Where the hell did HE come from??? - Tie - Steve Smith (no longer the OTHER Steve Smith) and Miles Austin
Where the hell did he GO??? - Greg Jennings - dayammm.....Austin Collie has scored more than he has this season.
Best WR corps (team) - Pittsburgh Steelers (364.9) in a landslide over Oorang (303.8). Randy Moss, Marques Colston, Derrick Mason and Johnny Knox, all 4 ofwhom are in the top 22. Oorang has Roddy White, Nate Burleson and Donald Driver, all in the top 17
Highest scoring TE - Well, Owen Daniels, who is out for the season, is technically the highest scoring, but he's only 0.8 points ahead of Dallas Clark, who has a bye.
Most consistent TE - Dallas Clark. He's been at or over 12 points every week since week 1. No one else even comes close to this.
Most erratic - Kellen Winslow Jr - he sandwiches 20+ point games around 4- and 5-point games
It's about damn time!!!! - Vernon Davis. Leads the NFL in TD receptions and visible abdominal muscles.
Uh, you feelin' okay man? - Jason Witten. You'd be hard-pressed to find someone at the skill positions who seemed like more of a sure thing than Jason Witten. As it stands, he has been < 10 points in 5 of 7 games, and in the 2 games he broke 10 points, he hit 13 and 14.
you tease you - John Carlson popped off a 24-point game in week 1, and has not broken 10 points since then.
DAMN!!! who the HELL are you??? - Spencer Havner, in the absence of Jermichael Finley, has become a TD machine, scoring almost 30 points in the last 2 weeks for Green Bay.
Best TE (team) - Philly has gotten excellent production from 2 of the top 8 TEs by starting both each week (Tony Gonzalez and Owen Daniels). No one even comes close to his TE score overall.
Best KR (player) - This one is tough to call, since several players also double as WRs and/or RBs. However, Percy Harvin and Stefan Logan both have topped out at an average of 14 ppg.
Best PK - Lawrence Tynes and David Akers are very close. Tynes has outscored Akers by 9 points, but has not had his bye week and has been held under 7 points for 2 consecutive weeks as the NYG offense has sputtered. David Akers has average about 1/2 PPG more and has not dropped below 9 points the entire season.
Best PN - Dave Zastudil has been a beast all season long, averaging over a full PPG more than any other punter. He even posted a ridiculous 19 points in week 5. Of course, when you nail 7 coffin corner kicks, you've earned your paycheck as a punter
Best Special teams (team) - Oorang (264) edged out Carolina (255), Atlanta (244) and GBP (243). Oorang didn't have the highest scoring anybody, but his KR was 4th, his PK was 2nd and his PN was 5th.
Moving on to the REAL side of the ball where REAL men play!!!
Highest scoring DT - Marcus Stroud is a full 11 points ahead of Kevin Williams, who is 10 points ahead of Shaun Rogers. Stroud has been remarkably consistent at a position which is historically inconsistent. He's been over 8 points in 6 of the 8 games thus far. That is pretty much unheard of.
Highest Scoring DE - Jared Allen, and it's not even close to being close. He's 30 points ahead of Julius Peppers this season and has posted at least 14 points in 6 of the 8 games, including a game of 20 and a game of 33 (insanity).
Welcome back! - Aaron Schobel and Andre Carter. Schobel missed a season due to injury and Carter missed a season due to organizatonal incompetence. Carter and Schobel are 4th and 5th in scoring this season among DEs.
Hey man, you feelin' ok? - Mario Williams - considered the freakiest of the freaks and the mostest strongest of the strong, he has been something of a disappointment this season, as he has broken 10 points on 3 occasions and been held to 5 or under on 3 separate occasions, including 2 goose eggs
Best defensive line (team) - Oorang, @ 218 points, is most closely trailed by SF49ers @ 187 points. No one else is above 170. Jared Allen (#1) and Aaron Schobel (#5) lead his defensive line
Highest scoring LB - Patrick Willis, and it's not really very close. At 123 points, Patrick Willis is rivaled only by Jared Allen on the defensive side of the ball this season in scoring.
Most consistent LB - Thomas Davis has been through a bye and has missed a game due to injujry and is the only LB to produce double-digit points in every game he's started this season.
Welcome to the club young man! - Brian Cushing, is 2nd in overall LB scoring and 5th in average ppg among LBs, outscoring Laurinaitis by almost 18 points so far this season
When you gonna die? - Ray Lewis and London Fletcher are each about 103 years old, and they're both in the top 12.
Best LB corps (team) - Oorang @ 389 points despite his 2nd highest scoring (by average) LB being out a few games. SF49ers are 2nd @ 337 points, and Philly, Dallas, St. Louis and the Bolts all have posted at least 300 points
Highest scoring CB - Jabari Greer @ 87 points is the highest scoring CB by average AND by total points. He has been consistent all season and has put up several solid games in a row.
Highest scoring S - Darren Sharper, in a season where he may walk away with the DPOY award for his record returns, Sharper is a full 2 points ppg ahead of any other safety and is the highest scoring defensive player not named "Jared" or "Patrick".
Where the hell did HE come from?? - George Wilson of Buffalo is 4th overall among safeties despite seeing almost 0 snaps during the first 3 weeks of the season. Since then, he's posted 9, 16, 17, 19 and 22 points
Consistency, they name is Delmas - the rookie has posted 6 consecutive weeks betewen 8 and 13 points. His week 1 outburst of 22 points helped propel him to #7 in safety scoring.
Best defensive backfield (team) - 4 teams are so far ahead of everybody else righ tnow, it's not even funny. Atlanta (392), Arizzona (366), Carolina (359) and Houston (351) are the only teams over 300 points. The next highest scoring is Tampa @ 292.
Offensive player of the year - Tough to argue against Peyton. His 2 worst games were 14 and 17 points, and the other 5 weeks he was at least 24 points.
Offensive value of the year - Cedric Benson, 8th overall in RB scoring, 6th according to average among those who haven't been injured, was drafted long after just about everybody else had been drafted. He's had 1 game @ 10 points. Otherwise, he hasn't dropped beneath 15.5. DeSean Jackson gets honorable mention only because he has been over 14 points in every game except 1, and he was drafted long after about 20 other WRs had already gone off the board
Defensive player of the year - Jared Allen. Yes, Patrick Willis has outscored him, but Allen is a full 30 points ahead of #2 at his position and is scoring like a high end WR1.
Defensive value of the year - Darren Sharper by a landslide. He was drafted in the 11th round and is 3rd overall in IDP scoring
